About the Director:
Most recently, Coach Weiss was the head coach at Virginia Tech and took the Hokies to the 2007 Men's College Cup, the school's first Final Four appearance in any sport. As an assistant coach at the University of North Carolina, he helped the Tar Heels win their first National Championship in Men's Soccer in 2001. At the College of William & Mary, Coach Weiss was part of a staff that advanced to three NCAA tournaments. In 1995 he began his college coaching career at the University of New Hampshire.
At the youth level Coach Weiss's teams won a Regional Championships and eight consecutive State Cup Championships while advancing to the 1995 Under 17 Boys National Championship. Oliver Weiss' leadership skills provided an environment that stressed academic achievement for all of his youth players. All of them chose quality academic institutions and many were chosen to captain their respective college teams at UNC Chapel Hill, Davidson College, Hampden Sydney College, Virginia Tech, William & Mary among others.
Oliver Weiss played soccer at the University of Richmond from 1984-88 and was the team's captain for three of his four years. He was selected to the Colonial All-Conference team twice and to the All-South Atlantic Region team once. As a high school senior he earned 1st team NSCAA All-America honors and was voted the North Carolina High School Player-of-the-Year in 1983.
Coach Weiss holds two coaching licenses: the US Soccer A License and the German Soccer Federation B-License. In addition, Coach Weiss taught Social Studies and German for five years at the middle and high school level in the Virginia Public School Systems of Hanover County and Williamsburg-James City County.
